What Goes into Adelline Products? Part 1 of the Series!

beyonce you ready?

You care about what you eat, where you sleep, and how you look. It’s time to care what goes into your skin and why. Every one has different reactions to different ingredients, and diligent research needs to be done to keep your skin at its happiest. Adelline products are there to help your skin be just that, and that is why we believe in letting you know exactly what goes into our ingredients, straight from our lab reports. Are you ready to find out? Here are the eight key ingredients for Adelline 24K Gold Snail products! Stay tuned for more on this series!

purified water
1. Water
H2O - the source of life on this planet. Water used in cosmetics are not like your ordinary clean tap or bottled water, however. In order to eliminate metal ions, micro-organisms, and other impurities from the water, Adelline water uses “ion exchange” filters (up to ten times) to purify the water. Clean water forms the base solution of the Adelline 24K Gold Snail Collection and ranges from 70% to 80% of the total weight.

2. Butylene Glycol
This is a controversial ingredient for some because it comes from petroleum. Butylene Glycol is an odorless, organic alcohol used primarily as a solvent (to help other ingredients dissolve in water) and humectant (to help the skin absorb atmospheric moisture). The Cosmetic Ingredient Review (CIR), the FDA, and the World Health Organization have all found butylene glycol to be safe.

3. Glycerin
"'Glycerin is essentially like a sponge that pulls in water to the outer skin layer,' Zeichner explains. 'It can attract water from the deeper skin layers or even the air in humid environments.' It also helps slow the evaporation of water from your skin to help foil that chronic winter dryness, adds Erin Gilbert, a board-certified dermatologist in New York City. In short, it's a skin secret weapon.” - adapted from Allure

4. Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride
An oily liquid compound derived from coconut oil and glycerin, caprylic is able to quickly penetrate the epidermic surface to provide a lightweight and non-greasy lubrication. Not only is this ingredient popular for being gentle, stable, and smooth to the touch, but it also helps spread the solution out evenly over the epidermic cell layer and speeds up the absorption process.

nuts
5. Macadamia Integrifolia Seed Oil
Fancy scientific name for Macadamia nut oil, this ingredient is notable for two things. One, Macadamia nuts are actually “seeds” and do not contain the same allergens as peanuts and other tree nuts. Two, this oil is remarkably similar to sebum, the naturally produced oil from human skin. This allows the oil to form a clean, natural barrier to your skin: Keep moisture in; UV rays and pollutants out!

6. Cetearyl Alcohol
Don’t let the term “alcohol” fool you here. Cetearyl alcohol is a “fatty” alcohol that can be derived naturally from palm oil or coconut oil (the cet- in its name comes from its original source: the whale, or cetacea), or made synthetically. Mainly used to keep the cream smooth and creamy, cetearyl alcohol is very different from the harsh, skin-aggravating forms of alcohol.

7. Polysorbate 60
This oily liquid is used "to dissolve in a solvent in which they would not normally dissolve. They also help to form emulsions by reducing the surface tension of the substances to be emulsified," according to CosmeticsInfo.org. The Cosmetic Ingredient Review (CIR) Expert Panel considers polysorbates safe as cosmetic ingredients. Simply put, polysorbates are safe and help melt oils into water.

8. Sodium Hyaluronate
This natural acid is found in human joints and particularly in eyelids. The loss of this amazingly effective moisturizer with age is what causes the joints to ache and the eyes to wrinkle. Sodium Hyaluronate is easily absorbed into the epidermis and can hold 1000 times its own weight in water. This not only moisturizes the skin from the inside, but also keeps the skin plump and healthy.
